What this sheet is for

Answer the call a year later — a hollow tile, a shade difference, a grout that stained — from the batch numbers and the prep you actually did.

Who it is for

Tilers, bathroom and kitchen fitters, and builders recording a subcontracted tiling job.

How to use it

  1. Take one line per area: wall or floor, what the substrate was and what you did to it before a tile went on.
  2. Write every tile, adhesive, grout and sealant with the batch number from the box or tub as it is opened.
  3. Note the days on site and who tiled, so a callback can be put to a day.
  4. Note the boxes left for the customer and the joints and silicone, and have them sign.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: One tiling job: each area's substrate and preparation, and the tile, adhesive and grout that went on it, with their batch numbers.

The tub's figures; your batch numbers. Drying times, bed thickness and which adhesive suits which substrate are on the tub and in the tile maker's guidance — write in the ones you followed. The batch numbers are the point: a shade difference or a failed bond is traced to a batch.

Questions

Why is there no drying or curing time printed?

Because it belongs to the adhesive in the tub, the substrate under it and the room it is in, and the maker prints it for that product. The sheet has a column for the time you followed, so the record shows it was followed.

Is the batch number really worth writing down?

Yes. Tiles from different batches can differ in shade and size, and a bond failure is a batch question before it is anything else. The box is gone by the time it matters.
