Keep one honest list of what is presumed, what has been sampled and what was decided, so nobody drills into something because the register was in someone's head.
Building owners, managing agents and site managers who have to keep track of materials in a building that may contain asbestos, and contractors who need to read it before they start.
2 pages, in this order:
Printed under the title: A room-by-room list of materials that are presumed to contain asbestos until someone proves otherwise: where they are, what condition they are in and what has been decided about them.
Presumed means untested. Presuming a material contains asbestos is a management decision, not a test result. Sampling, analysis and any survey are done by whoever your rules say may do them; record the outcome here when it comes back. Who has to keep a register, and for which buildings, is set by the rules where you are.

No. A survey is done by whoever your rules allow to do one and comes with its own report; this register is the working list that sits on top of that, or that you keep while presuming materials until a survey is done. If a report exists, write its reference at the top.
That depends on the rules where you are, and the sheet does not try to answer it. Check them, and if you are unsure, keeping the register anyway costs nothing.
Remember who did what, what it cost, and who was worth calling back — and have a dated record if a dispute ever starts.
Tie the survey, the treatment and the guarantee together on one page, so a claim years later can be answered from the record and not from memory.
Produce as-built information for the certificate, the client and the next person to open the ceiling, instead of reconstructing it from memory.
Capture a job while you are still standing in it: what was asked for, what was done, what went into it and how long it took.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
