What this sheet is for

Know which cylinders are on site, where they are and which ones you are still paying rent on. The store checks sit behind the register, so the two are kept together.

Who it is for

Workshops, garages, labs, caterers and sites that hold welding, cutting, process or fuel gas cylinders.

How to use it

  1. Give each cylinder a line when it arrives, with its number or barcode, gas, size and supplier.
  2. Date it as it goes into use, runs empty and goes back, so the register shows where each one stands.
  3. Run the store checks on page 2 on the round you set, a column per check.
  4. When the rental statement arrives, count what is on site and record any difference.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Printed under the title: Every gas cylinder on site from the day it arrives to the day it goes back, owned or rented, with the regular check of the store and a count against the supplier's rental statement.

Your store, your supplier, your rules. No quantities, distances or limits are printed. How many cylinders the store may hold, how far flammable gases are kept from oxygen and other oxidising gases, and how the store is built come from your risk assessment, your gas supplier and the rules where you are.

Questions

Why are there no separation distances or store limits printed?

Because they depend on the gases, the quantities, the building and the rules where you are, and your gas supplier and risk assessment will set them. The sheet records that the store was checked against your own arrangements.

Do I need a line for every cylinder, even the small ones?

It is the only way the register will match a rental statement, because rent is usually charged per cylinder. A forgotten rented cylinder keeps costing rent long after it is empty.
