Plastering Job and Materials Sheet

A free printable plastering job sheet — each wall and ceiling with its background, prep and system, bags taken, used and left, and decorating advice given.

First page of the Plastering Job and Materials Sheet — Record what each surface actually was and what went onto it. A later crack, a blown patch or a paint failure can then be traced to the background rather than guessed at.

What this sheet is for

Record what each surface actually was and what went onto it. A later crack, a blown patch or a paint failure can then be traced to the background rather than guessed at.

Who it is for

Plasterers and small building firms doing plastering, rendering and boarding, and anyone who needs a materials count per job for the merchant's bill.

How to use it

  1. Note the room conditions and who stripped the old surface before the first mix.
  2. Take one line per wall, ceiling or reveal: the background, the prep, the system and where beads and scrim went.
  3. Count bags taken, used and left on site per product; the difference is your van stock.
  4. Write the date you told the customer each surface would be ready for paint or paper, and have them sign.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: One plastering job, surface by surface: the background, the prep, the system that went on and the bags it took.

The bag's timing, your note of it. How long a coat is left before the next, and before decoration, depends on the product, the background and the room on the day — the bag and the data sheet say. The 'ready for' column is where you write the date you told the customer. Nothing here sets a coat thickness or a drying time.

Questions

Why is there no drying time on the sheet?

Because it depends on the product, the thickness, the background and how warm and ventilated the room is on the day; the bag and the data sheet give the figure for that product. The 'ready for' column is where you write the date you actually told the customer, which is the only one that matters later.

Do I need to record the background for every surface?

Yes. A skim that fails on old painted plaster and a skim that fails on new board are different problems with different causes, and without the background written down the sheet cannot tell them apart.
