What this sheet is for

Put the designer's figure and your reading on the same line. The record then shows not just what the system was set to but whether that was what it was meant to be.

Who it is for

Heat pump installers and commissioning engineers, and heating firms taking on their first air-source or ground-source jobs.

How to use it

Identify the unit, cylinder, buffer and emitters from their plates and the design document.
For each setting, write the designer's or manufacturer's figure first, then what you set or read, and where you read it.
Tick the pre-start checks as they are done; cross through any that do not apply to this system.
Walk the customer through the controller, note the guarantee and scheme registrations, and have them sign.

What is on the sheet

Printed under the title: The day a heat pump goes live: the system as installed, the design figures beside the readings, and the handover.

Their figure beside your reading. Flow temperature, flow rate, glycol strength, clearances and the compensation curve are the designer's and the manufacturer's figures for this installation. Each gets two blanks — their figure and your reading — because a record with only the readings cannot show whether they were right.

Questions

Why does the sheet not say what the flow temperature should be?

Because it is different for every house: it comes from the heat loss calculation, the emitters fitted and the unit's own range. The sheet gives that figure a column of its own so it is written down beside the reading, and the two can be compared later by someone who was not there.

Is this the same as the manufacturer's commissioning checklist?

No, and it does not replace it. The manufacturer's form proves the unit was set up as they require and usually matters for the guarantee. This is the installer's own record of the whole system, kept with the job file.
