What this sheet is for

Keep the survey and the fit for a window or door job on one sheet, so each opening's decisions travel with it from site to order to installation.

Who it is for

Window and door installers, glazing surveyors and builders ordering frames for a job they will fit themselves.

How to use it

  1. Write the frame material, colour and cill type once at the top.
  2. Take one line per opening: brick-to-brick sizes, your deduction, style, openers, glass and any vent or restrictor.
  3. On fit day, tick each opening as it goes in, sealed and tried, and note the keys handed over.
  4. Have the customer sign when the last unit is in.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Every opening on a window or door job, surveyed once and fitted once, with the decisions written against each one.

Your deductions, your glass, written per opening. Which openings need safety glass, where a vent or a restrictor goes and how much to take off a brick-to-brick size are decided under the rules where you work and your manufacturer's fitting instructions. Each has a column, so the decision is written against the opening rather than carried in your head to the order form.

Write-on lines: Customer · Address · Surveyed · Surveyor · Frame material & colour · Existing frames removed by · Cill type · Reveals to make good?

Openings — one line per window or door; sizes as taken on site; tick when fitted

Table, 8 rows: Ref · Room / elevation · Width · Height · Deduction · Style & openers · Glass · Vent / restrictor · Fitted

Write-on lines: Fit day: fitted by · Date · Keys handed over · Reveals made good? · Old frames taken away?

Signature strip: Customer signature · Print name · Date

Questions

How is this different from the Window and Blind Measurement Sheet?

That sheet is for a householder measuring for blinds or curtains. This one is the installer's record: site sizes with a deduction, the opening configuration, the glass decision per opening, and the fit itself.

Why is there no rule for which openings need safety glass?

Because that is set by the rules where you work and they are not the same everywhere. The glass column is there so the decision is written down against each opening.
