Get the boundary conversation written down and signed before the first post goes in, then record exactly what was built where.
Fencing contractors, landscapers and general builders putting up garden and boundary fences and gates for domestic customers.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: Every run and every gate on one fencing job, and the boundary conversation that happened before the first post.
The line was theirs. Where the boundary is belongs to the customer and their neighbour, not to you: the first ticks have the line you were told to follow written down and signed for before a hole is dug. Height limits and whether a fence needs permission depend on the rules where you are.

Because a fence on the wrong line is the dispute that outlives the job. The customer tells you where the boundary is and whether the neighbour knows; the sheet has that written down and signed for. Whether a fence needs permission or has a height limit depends on the rules where you are — check them.
Record the fence walk and the faults, including who is responsible for each boundary before money is spent on it.
Keep the quoted construction and the actual construction on the same page, so the customer signs for what was built and the job's costs are all in one place.
Get the customer's signature that the work is done while you are still standing there, with anything outstanding written down rather than remembered differently.
Work out what one job actually cost, so the next quote is based on a figure rather than on a feeling about the last one.

What each zone of the garden is expected to cost in materials, labour and plants.
