What this sheet is for

Know what is in the boxes without going up into the loft, by numbering the boxes and keeping the list on paper.

Who it is for

Anyone with a loft, a garage, a shed or a storage unit full of boxes nobody has opened.

How to use it

  1. Number every box and write the number on at least two sides.
  2. List contents in enough detail to be searchable by eye.
  3. Record whose things they are — it is the question that causes arguments.
  4. Mark keep, sell or clear as you go, so the list doubles as a plan.
  5. Note the date last opened. Boxes unopened in five years answer their own question.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
