Collect the numbers you can never find when something breaks: model and serial numbers, install dates, and when the warranty runs out.

Homeowners, landlords and anyone managing a property with more than a couple of appliances in it.
How to use it
- Work round the property one room at a time.
- Photograph each rating plate as you go — they become unreadable with age.
- Record where the manual and the receipt are kept.
- Update it whenever anything is replaced.

Do this once, properly. Photograph the rating plate of each appliance when you fill this in. Serial numbers are usually on a sticker behind, beneath or inside the door, and they become unreadable long before the appliance fails.

Questions
Where do I find the serial number?
Usually on a rating plate: behind or beneath the appliance, inside the door, around the door seal, or on the back panel. On boilers it is often behind the front cover.
Why record the install date rather than the purchase date?
Warranties on fixed appliances usually run from installation, and some require registration within a set period after it.
