What this sheet is for

Keep a paper record of the round that survives a flat handheld, and settle a 'where is my parcel' query from the row it is on.

Who it is for

Self-employed and employed couriers, multi-drop van drivers and anyone running a delivery round for a shop, pharmacy or workshop.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the driver, van, date and round before you leave the depot.
  2. Record the start time, mileage and parcel count as you load.
  3. Add a row for each stop as you make it — reference, address, time, who took it.
  4. Mark the outcome honestly: delivered, carded or brought back.
  5. Close the sheet with the finish time, mileage and what came back to the depot.

Questions

Why keep a paper run sheet when the handheld records everything?

Because the handheld belongs to the operator and the data in it can be hard to get at later. A sheet in your own hand is your record of what you did on the day, for a pay query, a disputed drop or a claim.

Where do failed drops go?

Mark them as carded or returned here, then write up the detail on the Failed Delivery and Redelivery Log — what went wrong, where the parcel is and when it went out again.
