On the Calving and Lambing Record: dam, assistance, lambs born and outcome. This sheet is only about having the kit ready.
Record each birth while the detail is still exact, including the assistance and the losses, so next season is planned from what happened rather than what you recall.
Record which ram covered which group and when, so scanning results and lambing dates can be worked out rather than guessed.
Measure growth to weaning against the ewe that reared it, which is the fairest test of a breeding ewe there is.
Account for every medicine from the day it arrives to the day it is used up or thrown away. Batch and supplier stay on file, and opened bottles are not kept past their date.
Keep the flock on paper, so that a ewe's history is something you can read at the handling pens rather than something you half remember.
