Measure growth to weaning against the ewe that reared it, which is the fairest test of a breeding ewe there is.

How to use it
- Record birth weight — without it the gain figures mean less.
- Weigh on the same scales, and note when they were last checked.
- Record the dam on every line.
- Review the best rearing ewes at the end of the season.

What daily gain should I expect?
No figure is printed. It depends on breed, system, forage and season, and comparing your lambs against somebody else's figures is usually misleading. Compare within your own flock and across your own years.
