What this sheet is for
Record which ram covered which group and when, so scanning results and lambing dates can be worked out rather than guessed.
Who it is for
Flock keepers of any size planning a lambing.
How to use it
- Record raddle colour and the date you changed it — that is what dates the lambing.
- Note rams in and out precisely; the spread of dates comes from those two.
- Record scanning by group, including empties.
- Work your own expected lambing dates and write them in.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Why is no gestation figure printed?
Because it varies by breed and a printed average would set some flocks up to be unprepared. Work it out for your own breed, from your vet or breed society, and write it on the sheet — lambing is not a thing to be approximately ready for.
