What this sheet is for

Catch the leaning, overhanging or half-wrapped pallet before the forklift lifts it, not when the haulier refuses it.

Who it is for

Despatch staff, pallet builders and anyone loading pallets onto a carrier's network where a badly built pallet is refused or damaged.

How to use it

  1. Write your site's own maximum height, maximum weight and wrap pattern in the blanks at the top, from your standard or your carrier's terms.
  2. Give each pallet a row as it is built.
  3. Tick each check only after looking: base boards, overhang, heavy at the bottom, height, wrap tied in at base and top, label on two faces.
  4. Note any pallet that had to be rebuilt or rewrapped.
  5. Keep the sheet with the day's despatch paperwork.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Every pallet built for despatch checked against your own build standard before it is wrapped and moved — square, stable, heavy at the bottom, wrapped through and labelled where it can be read.

Your standard, written in once. Your maximum pallet height, wrap pattern and weight limit belong in the blanks at the top, taken from your site's own standard or your carrier's terms. The columns then record that each pallet was checked against those figures — none of them are printed here.

Write-on lines: Site / despatch area · Date · Shift · Built by · Max height (your figure) · Max weight (your figure) · Wrap pattern (yours) · Pallet type

Questions

Why is there no maximum pallet height or number of wrap turns printed?

Because those belong to your carrier and your site — a pallet network, a container loader and a shop delivery all set different limits. The blanks at the top are for the figures you work to; the sheet then records that each pallet was checked against them.
