Prove a parcel left the building on a given day, on paper the driver signed, instead of waiting for a scan that may never have happened.
Despatch clerks, packing benches and small businesses that hand parcels to a courier at a set collection time.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: Every consignment handed to one courier on one collection, listed by its tracking number and signed for by the driver — the page you go back to when a parcel is said never to have been sent.
Signed at the door. Fill this in before the driver arrives, from the labels as you print them, and have the driver count and sign at the bottom. A manifest signed by the driver settles the question of whether a parcel left the building; a scan record on someone else's system may not.
Write-on lines: Courier · Account no. · Collection date · Driver name · Vehicle reg
Table, 9 rows: No. · Tracking / consignment no. · Recipient · Town / postcode · Pcs · Weight · Service · Chk
Write-on lines: Total consignments · Total pieces · Time collected · Any refused or left behind (why)
Signature strip: Handed over by · Driver signature · Date / time
Because the scans are on their system and show what they scanned, not what you handed over. A manifest with the driver's signature is your record, made at the door, and it settles a missing-parcel dispute faster than an argument about scan timestamps.
Start a new sheet for each collection. A manifest is one driver, one van, one signature; mixing two collections on one page loses the point of it.
Send one copy with the goods and keep one at the bench, so a short delivery can be traced to the line that was packed, checked and signed for.
Give a driver one sheet showing the whole run, with a signature line per drop and a place to record refusals and returns.
Send goods with a note, or check a delivery in properly, with the discrepancy line that settles arguments weeks later.
Find a late slot, a damaged pallet or an unbooked delivery by date and supplier, from one line written when the vehicle was on the door.
