Assess one lifting or carrying task properly, including the question people skip: whether it has to be moved by hand at all.
Who it is for
Warehouses, care services, kitchens, removals, small builders, shops and anyone whose staff lift things regularly.
How to use it
- Assess the task as it is actually done, not as the procedure says.
- Ask first whether the load can be avoided, split, mechanised or delivered nearer.
- Consider the person doing it, including anyone new, young or returning to work.
- Record what will change, with an owner and a date.
- Review after any change to the load, the place or the people.
