What this sheet is for

Keep your own record of what tachograph paperwork you produced and when it left your hands, so a missing chart or a late download is not your word against the office.

Who it is for

Drivers of vehicles fitted with an analogue or digital tachograph, and the transport clerks who receive their charts and run the downloads.

How to use it

  1. Enter your name, card number and operator once at the top.
  2. Add a row for every chart, printout or manual entry, with the odometer readings and the vehicle it came from.
  3. Write the date you handed it in and get the initials of whoever received it.
  4. Log each driver card and vehicle unit download, where the file was stored, and the next date your operator has set.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: A driver's own record of every analogue chart, digital printout and manual entry produced, when it was handed in and who took it, and when the driver card and vehicle unit were downloaded. No download intervals or retention periods are printed here — they are set by the rules where you drive and by your operator, so write your operator's dates in the Next due column.

Write-on lines: Driver · Driver card no. · Operator · Card expiry

Charts, printouts and manual entries — one row per record produced

Table, 9 rows: Date · Vehicle reg. · Type · Odometer start · Odometer end · Reason if printout · Handed in · Received by

Downloads — driver card and vehicle unit, on the dates your operator sets

Table, 4 rows: Date · Card or unit · Vehicle reg. · Downloaded by · Where stored · Next due

Questions

Why are there no download intervals or retention periods on the sheet?

Because they are set by the rules where you drive and by your operator, and they change. The sheet gives you a Next due column to write your operator's date in rather than printing one that may be wrong for you.

Does this replace the tachograph itself?

No. The chart or the card is the record; this sheet is your own note of what happened to it — when it was produced, when it was handed in and who took it.
