Project Plan Sheet

A free printable project plan — milestones with target and actual dates, then a task table with owner, dates and what each task is waiting on.

First page of the Project Plan Sheet — Plan a project small enough to hold in your head — a refit, an event, a move, a small build — on one page, including the dependencies people forget.

What this sheet is for

Plan a project small enough to hold in your head — a refit, an event, a move, a small build — on one page, including the dependencies people forget.

Who it is for

Anyone running something with a deadline and more than a handful of moving parts: small businesses, committees, self-builders, event organisers.

How to use it

  1. Write down what finished looks like before you list a single task.
  2. Set the milestones first, then hang the tasks off them.
  3. Fill in the 'waiting on' column honestly — it is where projects actually stall.
  4. Put the actual dates in as they happen, next to the targets.
  5. Keep one sheet per project rather than one per person.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Does this follow a project management methodology?

No, and deliberately. It prints no methodology and assumes none. If you are running something large enough to need one, you need more than a sheet of paper.
