What this sheet is for

Keep every agreed action in one place with a name and a date against it, so the next meeting starts from what happened rather than from memory.

Who it is for

Committees, project groups, site teams, small businesses and volunteer organisations.

How to use it

  1. Number the actions and keep the numbers — they become the shorthand people use.
  2. Fill in owner and due date in the meeting. Added later they are a guess.
  3. Carry the log forward rather than starting a new one each time.
  4. Write the closing update, not just a tick. It is the evidence the action happened.
  5. Review the overdue rows first at the next meeting.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Why not keep this in a shared spreadsheet?

Keep it wherever it gets updated. In a great many groups the honest answer is that the shared file is opened by one person and the paper one is filled in by everybody. If your spreadsheet works, use it.
