The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

The assessed work for a whole term or year, with the deadlines counting down. Each row carries the module, the title, what the piece is worth, when it is due and how far along it is, from first draft to mark returned.

College and university students carrying several modules at once, students on vocational courses with portfolio deadlines, and anyone who has ever lost marks to a date rather than to the work.

What this helps you track

  • Every assessed piece with the module it belongs to
  • What each one is worth, in the weighting your course sets
  • The deadline and the number of days left before it
  • Whether a draft exists, whether it has been submitted, and what came back
  • The pieces that are worth most, which are rarely the ones due soonest

How to use it

  1. Write your name, the course and the term or year at the top.
  2. Add a row for each assessed piece as soon as it appears in the module handbook — title, weighting and deadline.
  3. The days-left column counts from today in the browser version and the workbook; on paper, write the figure in.
  4. Tick the draft box when a full draft exists, not when you have started one.
  5. Tick submitted on the day it goes in, and record the mark and feedback when it comes back.
  6. Sort by days left when you are planning the week, and by weighting when you are deciding where the effort goes.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

What goes in the weighting column?

The proportion of the module or course mark that piece carries, taken from your own handbook. Leave it blank if your course does not publish one.

Why record the mark here as well as on the grade tracker?

So the deadline and the result sit on the same line. If you keep a separate grade tracker, this column is a quick reference and that sheet is the full record.

Can I track a group project on it?

Yes. Put the piece on one row and use the notes for who is doing which part; the deadline and the weighting work the same way.

Does it handle extensions?

Change the deadline to the new date and the days-left figure follows. It is worth noting the original date in the notes column so the change is visible later.
