Piano Practice Log

A free printable piano practice log — date, piece, minutes practised and notes for next time, kept by the person practising rather than the teacher setting the work.

First page of the Piano Practice Log — See what practice actually happened across a week, not what was intended, and carry a note about where to pick up next time rather than starting cold.

What this sheet is for

See what practice actually happened across a week, not what was intended, and carry a note about where to pick up next time rather than starting cold.

Who it is for

Piano and other instrument pupils, and parents tracking a child's practice.

How to use it

  1. Log a line every time you practise, even a short session.
  2. Name the piece or exercise, not just 'practice' — it is what makes the log useful later.
  3. Write one honest note about what to come back to next time, while it is still fresh.
  4. Bring the filled-in week to your next lesson.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: A day-by-day record of actual practice — minutes spent, what was worked on and what to come back to next time — kept by the person practising, not the list a teacher sets for the week.

What you did, not what you were set. If a teacher sets weekly tasks on a Pupil Practice Assignment Sheet, this is the other half: what you actually did with that list, piece by piece and day by day. Works for any instrument, not only piano.

Questions

How is this different from the pupil practice assignment sheet?

That sheet is what a teacher sets for the week ahead. This sheet is the record of what was actually practised — they are two halves of the same routine, and most pupils will want both.

Does this only work for piano?

No — the columns are generic enough for any instrument. It is titled for piano because that is the specific record most people search for.
