What this sheet is for

See before the concert, not at it, that the tenors have been three for a month.

Who it is for

Choir conductors, musical directors and the person who keeps the register for a community, church, school or workplace choir.

How to use it

  1. List the singers with their part — soprano, alto, tenor, bass or your own division.
  2. Write each rehearsal date at the top of a column and mark attendance in your own shorthand.
  3. Total each singer's attendance across the term in the last column.
  4. Fill in the section count to see the usual and lowest turnout for each part.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Page 1

Printed under the title: A term's attendance for a choir, one row per singer with their voice part, so the conductor can see which section is thin before the concert rather than at it.

Parts, not just heads. Write the date of each rehearsal at the top of a column and mark each singer in your own shorthand. The part column is what makes this a choir register and not a class register: the part totals on the second page show how many altos you actually had.

Write-on lines: Choir · Term / season · Conductor · Rehearsal day

Part totals — count each section down the column for every rehearsal

Questions

How is this different from a class register?

By the part column. A class register tells you how many were present; this tells you how many altos were present, which is the number a conductor actually needs when deciding whether the piece can be sung on the night.
