Open Mic Running Order Sheet

A free printable open mic running order — sign-up list, slot times, what each act needs on stage, whether they turned up and played, and a waiting list.

First page of the Open Mic Running Order Sheet — Run the night from one sheet: who is on next, what to plug in before they get there, and who takes the slot if someone does not show.

What this sheet is for

Run the night from one sheet: who is on next, what to plug in before they get there, and who takes the slot if someone does not show.

Who it is for

Open mic hosts, pub and café venues, showcase promoters and anyone running a student or community performance night.

How to use it

  1. Fill the header with your night's own rules — sign-up time, first act, slot length, curfew.
  2. As acts sign up, take their name, what they play and what they need on stage.
  3. Set the order once sign-up closes and write the slot times against it.
  4. Tick each act in when they arrive and again when they have played.
  5. Keep a waiting list so a no-show slot goes to the next name, not to an argument.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: The host's sheet for one open mic or showcase night — who signed up, what they need on stage, the order they go on and whether they actually played.

Ask about the DI at sign-up, not at the mic. Slot length is your night's own rule; write it in the header and the sheet keeps to it. Ask each act what they need when they sign up, not when they walk on — the needs column is what saves the changeover.

Write-on lines: Venue · Date · Host / MC · Sound by · Sign-up opens · First act on · Slot length · Last act off by · House kit available

Running order — sign-ups past the last slot are the waiting list, in order

Questions

Why does it not say how long a slot should be?

Because that is your night's rule and depends on how many acts you take and how long the room stays open. Write the slot length in the header and the time column follows from it.

What goes in the needs column?

Whatever the sound person has to change between acts: a DI for an acoustic, a second vocal mic, a stool, a keyboard stand, a backing track to play in. Asking at sign-up is what keeps changeovers short.
