Weekly Service Order Sheet

An order of service planning sheet — each item in running order with time, who leads it and what it needs, plus who is on sound and door.

First page of the Weekly Service Order Sheet — Puts everyone taking part on the same page before the day, so the person on sound knows what is coming and nobody discovers a missing microphone mid-item.

What this sheet is for

Puts everyone taking part on the same page before the day, so the person on sound knows what is coming and nobody discovers a missing microphone mid-item.

Who it is for

Service leaders, worship planners, chapel and community-gathering organisers, and the volunteers who set the room up.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the date, the venue and who is leading, speaking and on music.
  2. Write the running order out item by item, in the order it happens.
  3. Put the reading, song or piece against the item it belongs to.
  4. Use the needs column for anything that has to be in place — microphones, screen, table, elements.
  5. Tick items off on the day and note the changes at the bottom for next time.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: The running order for one service or gathering — each item in turn, who leads it, what it needs and how long it is expected to run — written down before the day rather than remembered on it.

Your order, written down. This is a planning and running sheet, not a form of service. What happens, in what order and to whose pattern is entirely your group's; the sheet only holds the order you have decided on so that everyone taking part is working from the same page.

Write-on lines: Date · Service or gathering · Start time · Venue · Leading · Speaking · Music · Sound / screens · Welcome / door · Refreshments

Running order

Table, 7 rows: Time · Item · Led by · Reading / music · Needs · Done

Ruled lines: Notices to read, changes made on the day, anything for next week

Questions

Is this a form of service?

No. It prints no words of service, no order and no pattern — what happens and in what order is your group's. This is the planning and running sheet that sits behind whatever you do.

Why is there no length against each item?

Because that is your call and it changes week to week. There is a time column so you can write the times you have chosen.
