What this sheet is for

Keep suspect, damaged or recalled stock out of the pick until someone has decided what happens to it, and see at once which holds are still open.

Who it is for

Stores and warehouse staff, quality checkers and anyone who runs a hold cage or a quarantine shelf, from a food store to a parts room.

How to use it

  1. Write the site, the hold area and who keeps the record.
  2. Give each hold its own row on the day it goes in, with the reason.
  3. Leave the decision and date-out columns blank until a decision is actually made.
  4. Fill in who released, reworked, returned or scrapped it, and when.
  5. Read down the empty date-out column to see what still needs a decision.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Stock that is in the building but must not be picked — why it was held, where it is, who put it there, and how and when it came off hold — so nothing quietly leaks back onto the shelf.

Open until released. A row is not finished until the decision and the date out are written in. Stock with a reason and no decision is stock nobody has dealt with, and that is the row to chase. Who may authorise a release is decided where you work.

Write-on lines: Site · Hold area / cage · Record kept by

Questions

Who is allowed to release stock from hold?

That is decided where you work, and it depends on what the stock is and why it was held. The sheet only asks for the name of whoever did release it, so the decision is traceable to a person.

Is this the same as the livestock quarantine sheet on this site?

No. That one is for animals arriving on a holding. This is for goods: cartons, pallets and parts that are in the building but must not be picked or shipped.
