What this sheet is for

Stop the pack bench running out of the one box size everything ships in, and see which materials are actually being used up.

Who it is for

Pack bench leads, stores staff and anyone who orders the packaging for a warehouse, workshop or online shop.

How to use it

  1. Write the area, the period covered and who is counting.
  2. List every material on its own row, boxes separately by size.
  3. Count each at the start of the period and again at the end, and write in any deliveries between.
  4. Work out what was used and tick the reorder column when the closing count is at or below your own figure.
  5. Pass the ticked rows to whoever places the order.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: What the pack bench got through — boxes by size, tape, wrap, void fill and labels — counted at the start and end of the period so running out is seen coming.

Your reorder point, not ours. The reorder point for each material is yours: write it in the column headed with your figure, from your own usage and your supplier's lead time. This sheet only shows the count falling towards it.

Questions

Why is the reorder column headed 'yours'?

Because the right point to reorder depends on how fast you use a material and how long your supplier takes to deliver, and both are different for every operation. Write your own figure in, and the sheet does the comparison.
