What this sheet is for
Show what the work actually pays, by recording editing time and travel alongside the fee instead of remembering only the fee.
Who it is for
Freelance and part-time photographers, and anyone deciding whether to turn a hobby into a business.
How to use it
- Record shooting and editing hours separately. Editing is where quotes go wrong.
- Enter travel and expenses even when you absorbed them.
- Write the usage or licence agreed in plain words, so a repeat request can be answered.
- Total the sheet and divide. The number is usually a surprise.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Does it suggest what to charge?
No, and it prints no rates. What you should charge depends on your market, your costs and your work. The sheet shows you your own numbers, which is the thing most people are missing when they set a price.
