What this sheet is for
Get the serial numbers written down before they are needed, and keep track of what has been lent out and not come back.
Who it is for
Working photographers, camera clubs, studios, schools and anyone with more kit than one bag.
How to use it
- Copy serial numbers exactly, including letters that look like digits.
- Photograph the kit as well as listing it, and note where those photographs are.
- Keep a copy of the sheet away from where the equipment is stored.
- Record loans out here, with a date — it is the column that saves arguments.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Will my insurer accept this?
Ask them. Insurers set their own requirements and some want valuations, receipts or photographs in a particular form. What this sheet does is make sure the information exists before it is urgently needed.
