Rig the same way when the same sail and wind come round again, without starting from scratch. The notes on how each set-up felt show what to change next time.
Windsurfers with more than one sail, board or fin, and coaches keeping notes for a squad.
2 pages, in this order:
Printed under the title: Your sails and the rest of the kit listed once with the figures printed on them, then the settings that worked on each day, so a good set-up can be found again instead of worked out from scratch.
Your marks, not ours. No settings are printed. Luff, boom and mast figures come from the sail itself; the rest are your own reference marks, such as a number on the boom cut-out, a pen mark on the downhaul rope or the extension, or finger widths on the harness lines. Use the same reference every time and write it down once, at the top of page two.
Write-on lines: Rider · Harness (seat or waist) · Harness line type
Table, 4 rows: No. · Make & model · Size · Year · Luff · Boom · Mast · Notes
Table, 6 rows: No. · Item · Make & model · Size · Year · Notes
Write-on lines: Downhaul and outhaul marks · Boom height reference · Harness line position

Settings depend on the sail, the mast, the rider and the wind, and the maker prints the starting figures on the sail itself. The sheet keeps your own: the marks that worked for you, against the conditions you used them in.
Anything you can find again: a number on the boom cut-out, a pen mark on the downhaul rope or the extension, a hole in the boom, or finger widths on the harness lines. Write how you measure at the top of page two.

Know at any moment which boats are still afloat, and which one is late. The day's header records who was on duty and the conditions they saw.
See jacket by jacket which has been checked, which failed and which is due a service. A jacket that fails is withdrawn by number instead of going back in the locker.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
