Put the trip on paper before you launch and leave a copy behind, so somebody knows where you went and when to worry.

A free printable campfire safety checklist — the checks made before lighting and before leaving, recorded and signed, with the site's own rules written at the top.
2 pages. Choose your paper size — both versions are laid out identically, so neither one gets shrunk to fit.
Print it and write on it
Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Turn the fire into somebody's named responsibility, with the before-and-after checks recorded — particularly where a group or other people's children are involved.
Scout and youth groups, campsites, festivals, group camps, and anyone responsible for a fire that other people are around.
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
The sheet prints no distances or clearances, on purpose. They depend on the site, the ground, the season, the wind and how dry the last fortnight has been, and a printed figure would be followed in conditions it was never meant for. The site owner, the landowner and your local fire service set the rules — check them, and write them at the top of the sheet.
No. It is a working check record. If your organisation has its own fire procedure, that one governs and this sits alongside it.

Record a drill in a way that captures what went badly, which is the only part that makes the next one better.
Record a risk assessment you have carried out yourself, in a layout that captures the part people forget: who is doing the further action, by when, and when it gets reviewed.
We are building this library out steadily. Leave an address and we will send the new sheets as they are finished — nothing else, and no more than one email a week.
Sign-up is not live yet — we have not connected an email provider, so this form is switched off rather than quietly collecting addresses.
