What this sheet is for

Catch a worn bridle, a leaking bladder or a sticky quick release on the beach, before launching. Repairs go on page two, so each kite's history stays with it.

Who it is for

Kitesurfers, kite schools and clubs looking after kites, bars and lines that see salt, sand and sun every week.

How to use it

  1. List each kite and bar once, with the size, year and serial from the labels.
  2. Before every session, walk the lines out, look over the bridles and the leading edge, and fire and reset the quick release on land.
  3. Tick each check, or cross it and write the problem in the notes.
  4. Write repairs and new parts on page two as they are done.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Page 1

Printed under the title: The kites and bars listed once, then a line for every session: quick release fired, lines, bridles, canopy and bladders looked over, and anything that wants a repair before the kite goes up again.

Checked on land, before every session. No line lengths, pressures or wear limits are printed: they are the maker's, and differ from one kite and bar to the next. Walk the lines out and look along them, check the bridles and the leading edge, and fire and reset the quick release on land. A kite or bar that fails a check stays in the bag until it is repaired.

Questions

Why are no line lengths or wear limits printed?

They are the maker's and differ between bars and kites. The sheet leaves room to copy the line length and release type from your own bar, and to record what you found, not to judge it against a number from us.

What does a cross in the QR column mean?

That the quick release did not fire or reset cleanly on land. Rinse it, free it or have it repaired as the maker's instructions say before the kite goes up; the sheet only records that it failed.
