What this sheet is for

Know what gauge is on the guitar, what the action was set to and when it was last touched, instead of rediscovering it every time something buzzes.

Who it is for

Guitarists and bassists who look after their own instruments, and anyone with more than one guitar to keep straight.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the instrument, serial and usual tuning once at the top.
  2. Write your setup figures into the reference block — the ones you or your tech settled on, so there is something to put it back to.
  3. Log every restring with the brand and gauge, even when nothing else changed.
  4. Record any truss rod, intonation, nut or electrical work with who did it.
  5. Note your own next-due date in the last column if you restring on a pattern.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: One guitar or bass, identified once, with your own setup figures beside it and a running log of every string change, adjustment and repair since. No gauge, action or relief is printed: a setup is personal to the player, the strings and the neck.

Write-on lines: Instrument (make / model) · Serial no. · Owner / player · Type (electric, acoustic, bass…) · Usual tuning · Case / gig bag · Bought / date

Setup reference — the figures you or your tech settled on — what to put it back to

Table, 2 rows: Set by / date · String gauge · Action (bass side) · Action (treble) · Neck relief · Pickup / saddle notes

String changes and work log

Table, 9 rows: Date · Strings fitted (brand / gauge) · Work done · By · Next due

Questions

Why are there no string gauges or action heights printed on it?

Because a setup is personal to the player, the strings and the neck, and a figure that suits one guitar will buzz or fight on another. The reference block is for the figures you or your tech chose; the sheet has none of its own.

Can I use it for a bass or an acoustic?

Yes. The columns are the same for any fretted instrument — the type field at the top just says which it is. Use one sheet per instrument.
