What this sheet is for

Give a crew a clean, consistent page for pace notes and road book additions, so a note taken at speed on the recce can be read at speed on the stage.

Who it is for

Co-drivers and navigators on stage rallies, road rallies, targa and regularity events, and crews writing their own notes rather than buying them.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the stage, the length from the road book and which pass of the recce this is.
  2. Write which distance source you are using — road book or trip meter — at the top.
  3. One line per junction or call: reference, distances, the call in your own system, and any caution.
  4. Tick each line off on the confirming pass, and rewrite any that did not read cleanly.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: A continuation page for pace notes and road book additions — one stage, one line per junction or call, in your own system, with a column to confirm each one on the recce.

Your system, your words. The call words, the corner grading scale and the distance units are yours and your co-driver's; this page does not fix any of them. Distances are copied from the organiser's road book or your trip meter — write which, so a discrepancy can be traced later.

Write-on lines: Event · Stage no. / name · Stage length (road book) · Recce pass · Crew · Distance source · Page ___ of ___

Table, 14 rows: Ref · Total dist. · Interval · Call / instruction · Caution / hazard · Recce OK

Questions

Which pace note system does this use?

None. The call words, the grading scale and the units are yours and your co-driver's; the page only gives you a consistent place to write them. Any system that fits on a line will work.

Can it replace the organiser's road book?

No. It is a continuation and notes page to sit alongside it. The official route, timing and instructions are the organiser's, and the event regulations say what notes are permitted.
