What this sheet is for

Give every member of the crew one page that says their job, their position and their cue, and keep the stop plan where the whole team can see it change.

Who it is for

Club and endurance race teams, and anyone running a pit crew of friends and family who have not done it fifty times before.

How to use it

  1. List every role with the person doing it, where they stand and their backup.
  2. Write the planned stops in pencil — lap or time window, driver change, fuel, tyres.
  3. Pin it in the garage and fill in the actual lap and stop time as each stop happens.
  4. Keep it with the race notes to plan the next one.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Who stands where and does what at each stop, then the planned stops against what actually happened — one race, one sheet.

The rules come from your championship. Crew numbers, refuelling, minimum stop times and pit lane speed come from your championship's regulations and the event's own. Fuel quantities are your team's figures. This sheet holds the plan; it does not set the rules.

Write-on lines: Event / race · Car number · Date · Pit box / garage

Crew positions — one row per person, including the backup for each role

Table, 6 rows: Role · Name · Position at stop · Signal / cue · Backup

Stop plan — planned in pencil, actual in pen

Table, 4 rows: Stop · Planned at · Driver out · Driver in · Fuel · Tyres · Other work · Actual lap · Stop time

Questions

Why does the fuel column say 'your figure'?

Because how much goes in, how it goes in and whether refuelling is allowed at all are set by your championship's regulations and your own strategy. The sheet gives the column; the number is yours.

Does this set out the rules for a pit stop?

No. Crew numbers, minimum stop times, speed limits and safety kit come from your championship and the event regulations, and they differ between series. Read those and plan to them.
