What this sheet is for
Record the water round, which is the one daily job where a missed fault becomes an emergency within hours.
Who it is for
Anyone with stock at grass or in buildings.
How to use it
- Check flow, not just level — a full trough with a dead supply is still a problem.
- Record faults even when you fixed them on the spot.
- In frost, record the time you broke ice; it tells you whether once a day is enough.
- Note which troughs keep failing.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
How much water do animals need?
No figures are printed. Requirements vary hugely by species, stage, weather and diet, and a lactating animal in July is a different case from a dry one in January. The practical rule is that they need it constantly available, which is what this sheet checks.
