What this sheet is for
Track rest as well as grazing, because the rest period is the part of rotational grazing that actually does the work and the part nobody records.
Who it is for
Smallholders, graziers and anyone moving stock between paddocks.
How to use it
- Set out the paddocks once, with area and water.
- Record on and off dates as they happen — reconstructed dates are guesses.
- Write your intended rest period at the top and see how often you achieve it.
- Note the condition on leaving; it is what tells you the rotation is too fast.

Questions
How long should a paddock rest?
No figure is printed. It depends on your rainfall, soil, sward and season, and graziers disagree about it in good faith. Set your own target and let the sheet show you whether you are hitting it.
How many animals can I keep per acre?
That is a stocking-rate question with a different answer on every holding and, in some countries, a regulated limit attached. Local advice, not a printable.
