What this sheet is for
Keep track of which tag is on which animal, including the replacements that otherwise break the chain between an animal and its records.
Who it is for
Keepers of any tagged species — cattle, sheep, goats, pigs.
How to use it
- Record the tag number in full, exactly as printed.
- Log replacements against the old number, or the animal's history is lost.
- Note where tags are ordered from and how many spares you hold.
- Check the register against the animals a few times a year.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

What are the tagging rules?
They differ by country and species — the format, the deadline for tagging, whether one tag or two, and what to do about losses are all set locally and change. Check with your own authority. This register sits alongside whatever they require.
