How to use it
- Collect and record at the same time each day.
- Note the weather and daylight — they explain most seasonal drops.
- Record cracked and soft-shelled separately; it is a different signal.
- Total the month and keep the sheet. Next year's comparison is the value.

It records the drop, it does not explain it. Lay rate falls for many reasons — daylight, moult, age, a fright, a parasite, a change of feed. This sheet records the fall; the cause is for you and, where needed, your vet. No expected rates are printed.

Questions
How many eggs should I be getting?
It depends on breed, age, season, daylight and feed, and the honest answer is that your own flock last year is the only useful comparison. A hybrid in her first autumn and a heritage breed in her third are not comparable at all.
Do I need to record egg sales?
If you sell eggs, many countries have rules about labelling, grading and traceability that begin at surprisingly small volumes. Check what applies where you are.
