What this sheet is for

Track lay across a month so a drop shows up as a pattern, with the conditions that usually explain it recorded alongside.

Who it is for

Backyard keepers, smallholders and anyone selling eggs at the gate.

How to use it

  1. Collect and record at the same time each day.
  2. Note the weather and daylight — they explain most seasonal drops.
  3. Record cracked and soft-shelled separately; it is a different signal.
  4. Total the month and keep the sheet. Next year's comparison is the value.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

How many eggs should I be getting?

It depends on breed, age, season, daylight and feed, and the honest answer is that your own flock last year is the only useful comparison. A hybrid in her first autumn and a heritage breed in her third are not comparable at all.

Do I need to record egg sales?

If you sell eggs, many countries have rules about labelling, grading and traceability that begin at surprisingly small volumes. Check what applies where you are.
