What this sheet is for

Keep both machines doing their job between service visits, with the upkeep on paper. A dry lubricator or a balancer out of calibration shows in the work long before anyone checks the machine.

Who it is for

Tyre bays, garages, fast-fit centres and mobile tyre fitters with their own changer and balancer.

How to use it

  1. Write both machines' details and the service company at the top.
  2. Copy how often each task is done from the manual into the Every column.
  3. Write the date at the top of a column and initial each task done that day.
  4. Log every service visit, repair and part fitted on page two, for both machines.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Page 1

Printed under the title: Routine upkeep of a tyre changer and a wheel balancer, each task ticked under the date it was done: the changer on this page, the balancer and every service visit, repair and part on page two.

Its manual, not ours. No intervals, air pressures, oil grades, belt tensions or head clearances are printed. Take them from each machine's manual or your service company, write how often you do each task in the Every column, and initial the task under the date you did it. A machine that fails a check is not used until it is put right.

Questions

Why are there no intervals or pressures printed?

They differ between makes and models and are set by each machine's manual and your service company. Write them in once, in the Every column and the boxes, and the sheet works for whichever machines you have.

How is this different from the tyre fitting record?

The tyre fitting record is about each customer's car: what came off and went on, and how each wheel balanced. This sheet is about the two machines that do the work, and whether they are being looked after.
