What this sheet is for

See the day as one page — what went through, what was carried over, what was taken in cash and card and whether the till agrees — before it blurs into the week.

Who it is for

Owners and service managers of independent garages, tyre bays and small workshops who close the till themselves.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the date, who opened and closed, and the float at the start.
  2. Add a row for every job card that was worked on today, finished or not, with the figures as invoiced.
  3. Mark how each was paid — cash, card or account — and its status.
  4. Count the till, fill in the takings block and write the difference honestly.
  5. Note what is carried over and what parts are due, so tomorrow starts informed.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: The day on one sheet: every job that went through, who did it, what it came to and how it was paid, then the till, card and account totals reconciled at the end.

Write-on lines: Date · Day · Opened by · Closed by · Float at start

Jobs through today — one row per job card, finished or not — figures off the invoice as written; your rates are your own

Table, 11 rows: Job card · Vehicle reg · Work · Tech · Hours · Parts · Labour · Total · Paid by · Status

Takings reconciled — count the till before the cash figure goes in — account work is turnover, not takings

Write-on lines: Cash taken · Card taken · On account · Total invoiced · Till count at close · Difference · Jobs carried over to tomorrow · Courtesy cars out · Parts on order for tomorrow · Banked

Questions

Why is account work in its own column?

Because a fleet job invoiced on account is work done but not money taken, and mixing it with cash and card makes the day look better or worse than it was. The sheet keeps takings and turnover apart.

Does this replace the till sheet?

It can for a small garage. A shop with a separate counter till may prefer the Daily Takings and Cash Reconciliation sheet for the till and this one for the workshop.
