What this sheet is for

Show what happened to every egg between the nest box and the customer. That is the question a scheme inspector or a complaint will ask.

Who it is for

Small egg producers selling at the gate, at markets or to shops, and smallholders registered under a marking scheme.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the producer code and the week at the top.
  2. Log each day's collection, then the count in each grade your scheme uses.
  3. Record cracked, dirty and other rejects separately so the pattern shows.
  4. Note trays packed and the stamp or date code applied.
  5. Use the lower table for where each batch of packed eggs went.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Each day's eggs from the nest box to the tray: collected, graded, rejected and why, packed and stamped, and who they went to.

Your scheme's grades. Grade bands, marking and what an egg for sale carries differ by country and by scheme. Use the grade names your scheme uses and check the rules where you are. Laying figures by flock belong on the Egg Production Record.

Questions

Why are the grade columns not named?

Because grade bands, sizes and how an egg for sale is marked all differ by country and by scheme. Write your scheme's grade names in the sub-headings and check the rules where you are.

How does this relate to the Egg Production Record?

That sheet is about the flock: how many eggs which birds laid. This one is about the packing bench: how those eggs graded, what was rejected and where the packed trays went.
