Home Buying Document Checklist
Have a prompt list to work through with whoever is handling the transaction, so documents are found before they are asked for rather than afterwards.
Blank and universal · BU-09
A free printable account inventory — which accounts exist, under which email, how each is secured and where the recovery codes are. No passwords.
One page. Choose your paper size — both versions are laid out identically, so neither one gets shrunk to fit.
Print it and write on it
Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Have a list of what you actually hold online, without writing down a single credential.
Anyone organising their affairs, and anyone who has had to deal with somebody else's accounts and found no list at all.
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Because writing passwords on paper is bad advice and we are not going to give it. Anybody who finds such a page has everything. Use a password manager for credentials; use this for the list.
Far safer than a list of passwords. It still names your accounts, so keep it with your important documents rather than beside the computer.
Have a prompt list to work through with whoever is handling the transaction, so documents are found before they are asked for rather than afterwards.
Turn a failure into a claim instead of a bill, by knowing what is still covered before you call someone out.
Put one person's emergency contacts and practical details on a single page, in the order somebody should actually work through them.
We are building this library out steadily. Leave an address and we will send the new sheets as they are finished — nothing else, and no more than one email a week.
Sign-up is not live yet — we have not connected an email provider, so this form is switched off rather than quietly collecting addresses.
