What this sheet is for
Give you the log you actually needed, by leaving the column headings to the one person who knows what they should say.
Who it is for
Anyone recording something repeatedly that no ready-made form covers — readings, visits, deliveries, samples, counts, calls.
How to use it
- Head the columns on one copy in pen, then photocopy that.
- Put the units in the heading. A column of bare numbers is a puzzle later.
- Always keep a 'who' column and a 'notes' column.
- Number the sheets, and carry totals forward if you are counting.
- Write what the log is for in the header — a stranger will read it eventually.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Why would I want a blank one?
Because most logs are the same shape and the headings are the part that has to be yours. A form built for somebody else's job makes you record their fields and leave yours out.
