Keep proof that the cameras and sensors were set up again after every job that moved them. The report reference on each line finds the certificate again when someone asks for it.
Owners and fleet managers of cars and vans with a windscreen camera, radar or parking sensors, and anyone booking one in for a new screen or a repair.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: One record per vehicle: the driver assistance systems it has, then every job that disturbed a camera or sensor and the calibration that followed, with the report reference so the paperwork can be found.
The maker decides, the report shows it was done. Whether a job needs a calibration, and whether it is static, dynamic or both, comes from the vehicle maker's repair information, not from this sheet. Ask for the calibration report or certificate every time and keep it with this record.
Write-on lines: Vehicle registration · Make, model and year · VIN · Windscreen part no. or markings · Usual glass or calibration garage · Reports kept at
Table, 8 rows: Date · Odometer · Trigger · Work done by · Calibration · Report ref. · Test drive · Lamps · Notes
Not always, and this sheet does not decide it. Whether a job needs one, and what kind, is set by the vehicle maker's repair information for that model and that system. Ask the fitter what the maker requires and keep whatever report they give you.
Broadly, a static calibration is done in the workshop with targets set up in front of the vehicle, and a dynamic one is done by driving it while a diagnostic tool watches. Some vehicles need one, some both. Write the type as it appears on the report, not as you remember it.
Keep the alignment result after the rig's printout has faded, with the manufacturer's figures written beside your own so the sheet stands alone.
Separate what the car arrived with from what was claimed for, and keep the actual hours and materials against each stage so the invoice and the estimate can be compared honestly.
Keep a service history in your own hands, so it survives changing garages and is there when you sell.
Fill in once the details you are asked for by a garage, an insurer, a parts counter or a hire firm and can never find.
Turn a diagnostic session into a record the next technician can pick up. It also gives the customer something better than 'it had a code'.
