What this sheet is for

Turn a run of losses into a visible pattern, because predation almost always repeats at the same hour and the same weak point.

Who it is for

Poultry, rabbit and waterfowl keepers, smallholders and anyone losing stock.

How to use it

  1. Record the time as well as the date; the pattern is usually in the hour.
  2. Write down how it got in, even when you are guessing, and mark it as a guess.
  3. Photograph damage before you repair it.
  4. Review the sheet after the third incident — that is when the pattern shows.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

What should I do about the predator?

This sheet does not say. Which species are protected, what control is lawful and who may carry it out differ enormously by country, and some of the obvious answers are criminal offences in some places. Record the losses, then take local advice.

Does this help with an insurance or scheme claim?

It may, and a contemporaneous dated record with photographs is worth far more than a recollection. Whether anything is payable is between you and them.
