Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Stop the things one shift knew from disappearing when they go home — the late arrival, the room out of order, the contractor due at seven — by writing them down and having the next shift sign that they read them.
Reception, night porters and duty managers in hotels, guest houses and hostels where the desk changes hands and there is no system that carries the detail across.

Because shifts run differently in a fifty-room hotel and a six-room guest house, and who is allowed to hold the float or the master keys is your house rule. The sheet gives both people somewhere to sign and a time; your rules say who those people are.
Anything that does not fit a table: a guest who was unhappy at dinner, a delivery due, the fact that the lift engineer said he would be back. If the next shift would want to know it, it goes on the sheet.
See at a glance which rooms are ready and which are not, without walking the corridor or ringing housekeeping, and have a record of when each room went back to reception.
Get a dripping tap or a dead kettle from the housekeeper who found it to the person who can fix it, on paper, with a record of whether the room could still be let in the meantime.
Hand a shift, a job or a role over properly, on the assumption that the person taking it does not yet know what they do not know.
Keep a simple register of who stayed and when, in a form you can produce if somebody asks for it.
