What this sheet is for
Get every room cleaned the same way whoever is on the trolley. A fault is caught by the checker rather than by the guest.
Who it is for
Housekeepers and room attendants in hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfasts, and the supervisor who checks the room before it is released.
How to use it
- Fill in the room, the date and the type of clean at the top before starting.
- Work through the bedroom list, then the bathroom, ticking as each job is done.
- Write any fault or damage in the faults table and report it straight away.
- Note anything the guest left behind and who it was handed to.
- Have the room checked and signed off, with the time it was ready to let.

Bedroom — tick as done
- Strip the bed and bag used linen
- Check under the bed and behind the headboard
- Remake the bed with fresh linen
- Empty and reline bins
- Dust all surfaces, ledges and skirting
- Wipe light switches, handles and remote
- Check lamps, sockets and television work
- Clean mirrors and glass
- Restock tea tray, cups and glasses
- Check wardrobe, hangers and safe are empty
- Check drawers for items left behind
- Vacuum carpet, including edges and under furniture
- Check curtains, blinds and window catch
- Set heating or air conditioning to house setting
Bathroom — tick as done
- Remove used towels and bath mat
- Clean and rinse basin, taps and plug
- Clean toilet, seat, lid and base
- Clean bath or shower, screen and tray
- Check plughole and shower head drain freely
- Wipe tiles, mirror and shelves
- Replace towels, mat and toiletries
- Restock toilet paper and bin liner
- Check extractor fan and light
- Mop the floor last, working to the door

Questions
Why is there no turnaround time or cleaning standard on the sheet?
Because both are yours. How long a room takes and what a finished room looks like depend on the room, the type of clean and your house standard, and a figure printed here would be someone else's. The sheet records the order of work and that it was done and checked.
What is the difference between this and the deep clean rota?
This is one room on one day — the routine service or departure clean. A deep clean is the mattress-turning, carpet-shampooing job done less often, and it belongs on its own rota so the overdue rooms stand out.
