What this sheet is for
Report a grinder pump fault that comes and goes with the dates and what was running. An engineer can do far more with a pattern than with one call.
Who it is for
Households on a low-pressure sewer with a grinder pump on the property, and the landlords responsible for them.
How to use it
- Fill in the station card once: pump, tank and panel locations, breaker, provider and emergency number.
- Copy your provider's instructions for when the alarm sounds onto the line under the card.
- Each time the alarm goes off, write the time, what water was in use, and whether the power or the breaker was involved.
- Record who you called, the job reference and the cause they gave.
- Log routine visits and repairs on the back.

Questions
What should I do when the grinder pump alarm sounds?
Follow your sewer provider's or the pump maker's instructions, which the sheet gives a line to copy. They usually cover cutting water use and who to call. The sheet prints no steps of its own, because providers and pumps differ.
Why note what water was in use?
Because an alarm that comes with the washing machine or a bath points somewhere different from one that comes in the night with nothing running. Over a few events that pattern is often the most useful thing you can give the engineer.
