Emergency Contact Sheet

What this sheet is for

Put the numbers somebody needs in one place, so a house-sitter, a babysitter, a visiting relative or a tenant is not searching for them at the worst moment.

Who it is for

Households, holiday lets, rented property, clubs and anywhere someone unfamiliar with the place might be alone in it.

How to use it

1. Fill in every line, including the emergency services number — it differs by country.
2. Print it and put it where it can be read without being looked for: inside a cupboard door, on the fridge, by the consumer unit.
3. Fill in the shut-off sheet as well and keep the two together.
4. Check it whenever a number changes, and date it.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Why is the emergency number blank?

Because it differs by country, and a sheet that prints the wrong one is worse than a sheet that prints none. Fill it in for wherever this sheet will hang.

Should personal details go on a sheet on the wall?

That is your judgement. In a private home it is usually the point. In a let property or shared building, consider what a stranger reading it would learn, and keep next-of-kin detail somewhere less public.
