The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Catch a weeping cylinder or a lock that does not engage before the car is in the air. Keep a trail of what was found and who cleared it.
Anyone who runs a two-post, four-post or scissor lift in a workshop, and whoever is responsible for it.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: The walk-round of a vehicle lift before the shift starts, and a running record of the defects found on it — one sheet per lift, kept next to it.
Check the rules where you are. How often a lift is examined, by whom and what that covers is set by the rules where you are and by the lift's manufacturer — check both. This is the operator's own check in between, not a substitute for that examination.
Write-on lines: Lift ID / bay · Make & model · Type · Rated load (from plate) · Week beginning · Checked by · Last thorough examination (date) · Next due
Table, 6 rows: Date · Defect found · Out of use? · Action / repair · Cleared by · Date
No. What that examination is, how often it happens and who can do it is set by the rules where you are and the lift's manufacturer — check both. This sheet is the operator's own check between examinations and the defect trail that goes with it.
As often as your own procedure and the manufacturer's instructions say. The sheet has no interval printed on it; the week-beginning box is there so the sheets file in order.
Keep track of what lifting gear you hold, what each item is marked at, and when each was last examined.
Keep a per-machine service history for fixed workshop equipment, so the consumable part numbers and the last service date live with the machine.
Keep a week of daily walk-around checks on a single sheet that lives with the machine, so the record is made where the machine is rather than in an office.
Trace the hours on an invoice back to the hours on the floor, and see where the unpaid time in a week actually goes.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
